Course Description: This program deals with a hand applied black and white emulsion.  Printmakers, painters, and photographers will benefit from learning this process as the finished Liquid Light print can be further enhanced with traditional artists’ materials.

This practical workshop is open to enthusiasts and artists from any medium. Students will have an opportunity to create photographic prints utilizing Liquid Light. This emulsion in a bottle can be applied to various surfaces such as rag paper, wood, ceramics, eggs, and glass. The possibilities are endless and well within the grasp of the total beginner, while challenging for those with experience in photography.

After the liquid emulsion is applied to the receiving surface with a brush, it is allowed to dry in the darkroom. Once dry, a test strip is made as with traditional photographic paper. An exposure is chosen and the now light sensitive item is placed under the enlarger with a black and white negative in place. After exposure, the item is run through black and white chemicals and allowed to dry.

As the exposed surface is not a photo paper it may be further manipulated using paints, markers, pencils, etc.
